Are you worried about the fact that you may be gaining weight? Are you concerned that you are gaining just one love handle too many? Or perhaps you are getting married and want to lose some weight in order to look and feel fabulous for your big day.

Well it is not always easy to get to a gym and many people feel self conscious about exercising in front of other people. So why not become a secret exerciser? That’s right, you can actually fit in some exercise without people having to know!  And where better to start than the office or where you work.

If you work in for example, a recruitment agency, then you may be sat at a computer desk for much of your working day or dealing with telephone calls. There is nothing wrong with that, many of us do have sedentary working lives, but you can increase your exercise.

For a start make sure that you use the stairs not a lift. Instead of emailing a colleague in the next office, get up and take a short walk down the corridor and you will save a few calories that way.

Make sure that you walk briskly from one floor to another, or if you are on a single storey, then when you go to the toilet or to make yourself a drink, ensure that you walk at a brisk place.

Don’t have the photocopier or printer right by your desk, so you always have to walk a short distance if you want to photocopy something or to collect your printing.

Although none of these activities are earth shattering, they will soon add up to make a difference. Even if you only use up 100 calories a day exercising, then in 35 working days you will have lost 1lb. Over a year that can soon add up ! So get walking today!
